Delta Upsilon’s 22-member interest group at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University became a colony on February 25, 2009. The colonization ceremony was held in the College of Aviation North Atrium, which overlooks the Embry-Riddle Flight line/ Daytona International Airport.
Leadership Consultants, Gordon Bothun, Carthage '08 and Kyle Sahagun, Washington '08 were on campus leading up to the colonization and Executive Director Justin Kirk was there for the colonization.
Many parents attended to see their sons participate in the colonization ceremony. They were joined by several members of the faculty including Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Volunteer Services, Lauren Moran; Director of Student Activities, Aaron Clevenger, Central Florida ‘97; Assistant Director of Leadership and Student involvement, Amy Vaughan and Director of Student Orientations and Parent Relations, Shane Ryan.
Students from the Embry-Riddle Greek Community also attended including members of Sigma Chi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Lambda Theta Alpha, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, and Theta Phi Alpha. Father Tim Daly from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Catholic Student Union delivered the opening prayer for the ceremony.
