Fall 2025 Delta Upsilon Quarterly
Named Endowment Funds
A named endowment fund ensures a donor’s giving makes an impact forever. A minimum pledge of $25,000 is required to establish a named endowment fund, and the funds are subject to a 4% annual spend rate (based on the prior 12-quarter fund average). Alumni chapters can also establish a Chapter Education or Housing Account (CEA/CHA), which are not subject to the 4% spending policy and provide grants to chapters for educational needs.

Charles J. Burmeister Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in 2025 by Bob Loch, Nebraska '54, in memory of Charles Burmeister, Nebraska '52. The fund provides tuition scholarships restricted for DU undergraduates from the Nebraska Chapter. Brother Loch was inspired to establish this new $75,000 scholarship fund because of his lifelong friendship with Charles Burmeister, who passed away in December of 2022.
James N. Graham RLA Endowment Fund
Established in 2024 by Jim Graham, Oregon State '65, to name and endow the Northwest Regional Leadership Academy as part of his gift to the Ignite The Charge Campaign. Each February, the Regional Leadership Academy serves as the Fraternity’s largest undergraduate educational program of the year. These academies serve as a unique opportunity for chapter officers in a specific geographic region to attend sessions that span a wide range of topics affecting fraternity life. RLA is intentionally designed as an officer training platform to provide tangible skills needed for success as defined by the Delta Upsilon Officer Core Competencies. Brother Graham had previously endowed a fund for the DU Emerging Leaders Experience.

Michael T. Grier Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2025 by the family of Michael T. Grier and numerous Nebraska alumni, the Grier Scholarship is awarded for tuition to Nebraska Chapter undergraduates each year. The Michael T. Grier Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Dr. Michael Grier, Nebraska ’83, whose life and actions always personified the Fraternity’s Four Founding Principles of Friendship, Character, Culture and Justice. Michael loved his Fraternity and the brotherhood it afforded him, and this scholarship fund will honor him forever. For generations to come, top undergraduates from the Nebraska Chapter will receive the Michael T. Grier Memorial Scholarship to further their education, and Brother Grier’s name and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of future generations of men who join Delta Upsilon at Nebraska.
Visit www.deltau.org/Grier to contribute to this memorial account.
How will the Grier Scholarship Enrich lives?
"Mike took great pride in his affiliation with the DU Fraternity during his college career and beyond. He embodied the values of Friendship, Character, Culture and Justice throughout his life, applying them daily to his dedication to the patients he cared for, his contributions to his community, his strong friendships, and to his unwavering love of his family.
"Through this scholarship program, our family hopes to help young recipients achieve their educational goals and instill the values the DU Fraternity teaches and Mike held so dear in the minds of future generations." - Monica Grier, Michael's wife
