AAron Clevenger Becomes 43rd Fraternity President

July 31, 2026 - Dr. Aaron Clevenger, Central Florida ’97, was elected to serve as the 43rd Delta Upsilon International Fraternity President during the Assembly of Trustees on July 25, 2026, as part of the Leadership Institute in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He first joined the Fraternity’s Board of Directors in 2012 and served as Board Secretary from 2019-2026.

In his professional career, Aaron is the Assistant Provost for International Education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and holds an appointment as an associate professor in Security Studies and International Affairs. Brother Clevenger holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Science from Embry-Riddle, and a Doctor of Education from Benedictine University.

As an undergraduate, Aaron was a founding member of Delta Upsilon’s Central Florida Chapter. Through the years, he has served the Fraternity in a number of volunteer capacities, including Chapter Advisor, Alumni Chapter President, and House Corporation President for the Central Florida Chapter; Province Governor; educational programs facilitator; and International Fraternity Board member. Aaron has also served as a member of the professional staff for both the International Fraternity and Educational Foundation.

Brother Clevenger’s professional experience in higher education and extensive Fraternity staff and volunteer service make him uniquely poised for the role.

It has given me lifelong friendships, opportunities to lead and serve, and countless opportunities for personal and professional growth. Along the way, I have been fortunate to learn from mentors whose guidance, encouragement and example have had a lasting impact on my life. Serving as International President is an opportunity to give back to an organization that has meant so much to me.”

With Aaron’s move into the presidency, Derrick Collins, Carthage ’05, was elected to serve as the new International Fraternity Secretary. Derrick joined the Board of Directors in 2021 and works in fundraising/advancement at Vanderbilt University. New to the Board of Directors are Colin Finn, Iowa State '05, as Alumni Director and Michael Gates, Kansas '27, and Shane Simpson, San Jose '27, as Undergraduate Directors. 

Retiring from the Fraternity’s Board of Directors is Tom Durein, Oregon State ’92, who served as the 42nd Fraternity President from 2018-2026. Tom joined the Board of Directors in 2015 following service on the DU Educational Foundation Board of Trustees from 1998-2015. Now a Past Fraternity President, he has now rejoined the Board of Trustees.

During his term as Fraternity President, Tom led DU with energy, strength and stability. He helped DU navigate a global pandemic that significantly shifted both Fraternity operations and the higher education landscape. Tom also helped spearhead the Fraternity’s current strategic plan and was a key figure in the success of the DUEF’s historic Ignite The Charge Campaign, which raised more than $10 million for Fraternity programs and initiatives.

Professionally, Tom is a former Greek Advisor for the University of California, Berkeley and a past DU International Headquarters staff member having served in a variety of expansion, member development and Foundation roles. Today, he is a Vice President of Account Management for NetJets, Inc.
