Delta Upsilon to Expand at Illinois State

July 21, 2017 - Delta Upsilon International Fraternity is proud to announce it will be expanding to Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, in fall 2017.

This marks the first time DU will have a presence on the Illinois State campus. Leadership Consultants from the Delta Upsilon International Headquarters staff will arrive on campus in late August, and will take part in the university’s Welcome Fair on Aug. 31. Official recruitment efforts will begin Sept. 11 after the completion of the Interfraternity Council’s (IFC) formal recruitment process.

“We are excited to bring the Delta Upsilon experience to the Illinois State campus,” said DU Executive Director Justin Kirk. “Illinois State has an already stellar fraternity/sorority community, and we are honored to add to that tradition of excellence.”

Throughout the fall semester, Headquarters staff will work to recruit the group’s Founding Fathers and build the foundation for success. This includes not just recruitment, but setting colony goals, officer training, implementing the Delta Upsilon Associate Member Education Program, advisor training, and more. A Leadership Consultant will remain on campus throughout the fall semester, and the goal is for the group to meet the minimum standards for colonization in the fall.

The colony at Illinois State will be Delta Upsilon’s seventh active chapter or colony in the state of Illinois, joining those at Bradley University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois, Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University and Western Illinois University.

Should you know unaffiliated men attending Illinois State in the fall and would like to recommend them for membership in Delta Upsilon, you can reach our Leadership Consultants at illinoisstate@deltau.org.

If you are an alumnus living the Normal, Illinois area and are interested in helping the chapter as a chapter advisor, please reach out to Expansion and Development Coordinator Hayden Rahn at rahn@deltau.org. The Fraternity is actively looking for alumni to help fill these important roles.
