Alberta

The Alberta Alumni Chapter continues to meet for its First Friday lunch series, and June’s lunch also included a putting challenge. It was great practice for the chapter’s annual DU Golf Tournament that teed off on June 17.

Bradley

Brother Chris Kamin, Bradley ’96, played in his first USGA U.S. Senior Open this July at Scioto Country Club in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Though he missed the cut for the final two rounds, he shot a +6 after the first 36 holes. Chris qualified for the tournament by taking medalist honors at El Caballero Country Club, in Tarzana, California, with a 5-under 66. A commercial insurance and benefits broker in his professional career, Chris has amateur status for golf and is a four-time Arizona Golf Association Player of the Year. In 2025, he made the round of 16 in the U.S. Mid-Amateur and was the runner-up in the Arizona Match Play Championship. He also qualified for the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur and won the Arizona Stroke Play Championship in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, he claimed the Arizona Mid-Amateur.

Central Florida

In March, six Central Florida alumni got together to celebrate 30 years since they joined Delta Upsilon. The evening was filled with bourbon, cigars, barbeque and stories.

Kansas State

Two DU brothers from the Kansas State Chapter who both graduated in 1964, have found themselves as neighbors over 60 years later living in Denver, North Carolina (a suburb of Charlotte), a thousand miles from Manhattan. Joshua Gottfrid, Kansas State ’64, and James Oppy, Kansas State ’64, have resided within a few blocks of each other for several years and just recently discovered their shared fraternal and college connections. As active octogenarians, they live in an adult, resort-type retirement community of about 1,200 homes.

As an undergraduate, Brother Gottfrid, played on the Kansas State men’s basketball team that advanced to the 1965 Final Four. He then had a 32-year career with AT&T and spent another 11 years with JNJ. Brother Oppy served as a Naval Officer after graduation and served in the Vietnam War before earning his law degree from Kansas State. He retired as an Assistant Director with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1998, then worked as the Senior VP for Corporate Risk International until 2005.
