Alberta

In November, the Alberta Chapter hosted its annual MS Bike-a-thon, which raised more than $2,000 for the battle against multiple sclerosis. While chapter members pedaled their bikes for MS, other chapter members stayed in the room with them, watching movies and playing videos games as they showed their support.

The chapter was also excited to welcome nine new brothers into the chapter, although the frigid winter weather forced Rite II to be postponed until the second week of January. Brother Romulus Rhoad, Alberta ’25, received the University of Alberta Opportunities Award, securing $3,000 in recognition of his outstanding service and leadership within the fraternity/sorority community.

Arlington

The Arlington Chapter appreciates the partnerships it creates within the campus community. On Oct. 3, the chapter assisted the UT Arlington Police Department with its National Night Out. The event is designed to heighten prevention efforts, support anti-crime programs, and strengthen community partnerships. The chapter members helped to set up and clean up the event. Then, on Oct. 17, the chapter hosted a Faculty and Staff Appreciation Lunch to honor professors and campus staff for their dedication. On Nov. 18, the chapter worked with the UTA MAPS Pre-Med Organization to assist the unhoused population in Houston by providing sandwiches, blankets and gloves to those in need.

Arlington Chapter
Christopher Newport

The Christopher Newport Chapter had a busy fall term. The chapter hosted three different philanthropy events, including a cornhole tournament that hosted 10 teams representing different sororities, fraternities and non-Greek campus organizations. During the Night For Life event, the chapter hosted guest speakers who told their stories of overcoming mental health struggles and raised money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Austin Germani Memorial Foundation. Chapter brothers also participated in multiple philanthropy events for other campus organizations, which included winning second place for Zeta Tau Alpha’s Big Man on Campus and second place in the IFC Greek Olympics.

The chapter congratulates Brother AJ Muir, Christopher Newport ’24, on breaking 19 records with the CNU Swim Club and now holding all of the individual records for the program. Brother Collin Stone, Christopher Newport ’25, presented his research in Robotics and Deep Learning Algorithm at a campus-wide tabling, and former Chapter President Drew Bogan, Christopher Newport ’24, accepted a job with a contracting company with the U.S. Department of Defense.

Clarkson

This fall, Clarkson Chapter members put their work ethics on display, racking up more than 20 service hours each. Brothers volunteered at events like the Colleges Against Cancer 5K. Two brothers also ran for executive board positions with the Clarkson chapter of the American Cancer Society. The chapter raised more than $500 for the Global Service Initiative by selling pumpkin spice muffins and holiday candles.

Embry-Riddle

The Embry-Riddle Chapter had its largest Initiation class since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with bids extended to nine new members, and seven making it to Initiation. With this group, the chapter doubled its size and is excited to see what these men bring to Delta Upsilon.

Florida

Every week, the Florida Chapter brothers volunteer with the Campus Christian House to make meals for the unhoused community in Gainesville. The men pack bags of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas, chips, and water. On the philanthropy front, this fall, the chapter partnered with Jeremiah’s Italian Ice to raise money for the Global Service Initiative.

The chapter was honored to welcome alumni back to campus for Homecoming when the chapter’s chef catered barbeque and undergraduates and alumni had the opportunity to connect. The chapter also welcomed six new brothers into the chapter.

Iona

Iona Chapter members were in the giving spirit this holiday season. The chapter participated in Operation Blue Santa, which collects toys and gives them to those less fortunate on Christmas. The chapter was also involved in a clothing drive for those who had lost everything in a Bronx building fire.

In the fall, the chapter’s Vice President of External Relations put together a panel discussion at LaPenta School of Business for a Greek Life Alumni event.

Iona Chapter
Kansas State

Philanthropy remains a top priority for the Kansas State Chapter year after year. This fall, the chapter hosted its annual Delta Hoopsilon basketball tournament for sororities on campus, with Gamma Phi Beta taking home the win. The men also hosted a joint philanthropy event with Delta Sigma Phi called Delta Olympics where sororities competed in various events throughout the week and joined the chapters for a cookout at the week’s end. The chapter’s annual Pancake Fest philanthropy continues to be one of its highest earning events and was co-hosted with Pi Beta Phi.

The Kansas State Chapter congratulates the 27 new brothers initiated in the fall, as well as Brother Andrew Bergmeier, Kansas State ’25, who was elected by the student body as one of two Student Ambassadors for the university.

Lafayette

The Lafayette Chapter was featured in the campus newspaper this fall for its efforts to raise money for mental health awareness. Since 2017 when Brother Joey Towers, Lafayette ’18, died by suicide, the chapter members have been participating in the Movember campaign that finds the brothers raising money for growing mustaches. This November, the chapter raised $1,200 for the Movember men’s health organization. As part of their fundraising efforts, the members hosted a bake sale with Kappa Kappa Gamma, and it also hosted an educational event with Peer Anti-Violence Educators to host a television screening event and discuss toxic masculinity. This spring, the chapter will host its annual Joey Day, a bike-a-thon named for Brother Towers that also raises money for mental health awareness.

Lehigh

The Lehigh Chapter has created a partnership with Broughal Middle School where chapter members assist with Snack Bag donations and after school Homework Hour. In addition to this service, the chapter has raised money for various foundations with events like a volleyball game and trivia tournament. Brothers have also participated in several sorority-hosted philanthropy events such as Alpha Phi’s Heartthrob Competition, Kappa Delta’s So You Think You Kan Dance, and Gamma Phi Beta’s moonball event.

Loyola Marymount

This fall, the Loyola Marymount Associate Chapter focused on service, recruitment and campus involvement. The brothers averaged 24.2 service hours each on the semester thanks to a partnership with Share A Meal, a local nonprofit, where brothers made sandwiches for those facing hunger in the community. Several members also serve with campus organizations that host blood drives and assist the unhoused population.

The associate chapter boasted an average GPA of 3.5 in the fall, with a number of brothers being named to the Dean’s List.

Michigan

The Michigan Chapter has embraced the spirit of philanthropy by launching a meaningful campaign to raise funds for cancer research. The chapter has organized various events and initiatives, ranging from charity walks to virtual fundraisers, with an inspiring response from chapter members and the broader community. In addition to its philanthropic efforts, the chapter has focused on building brotherhood through a series of events ranging from friendly sports competitions and game nights to community service projects.

Missouri

The Missouri Chapter was paired with Gamma Phi Beta for Homecoming this fall and participated in community service events, a canned goods drive, a skit and dance competition, campus decorations, and more throughout the week. The chapter was also proud to welcome its 36 new members into the chapter.

Nebraska

The fall term was busy for the Nebraska Chapter. The weekend of Oct. 6-8, 2023, the chapter hosted Parent’s Weekend and welcomed members’ families at the chapter house. The Parent’s Club co-hosted the event that featured a cookout, cornhole tournament, and tickets to the Nebraska vs. Illinois football game at Memorial Stadium. During Homecoming, the chapter celebrated its 125th anniversary on campus, which is the longest consecutive tenure at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Chapter members were proud to welcome 28 new brothers into the chapter and to have raised its chapter average GPA to 3.4, placing DU in the top for fraternities on campus.

North Dakota

The North Dakota Chapter is the proud recipient of multiple campus Greek Life awards. The chapter won the Chapter Excellence Award in both the fall and spring, the Excellence in Leadership Development Award, Outstanding Chapter Award, and Greek Excellence in Citizenship Award. Former President Taylor Flaata, North Dakota ’24, also won the Outstanding Chapter President Award for 2023.

The chapter has welcomed 12 new brothers this year, with eight men joining during fall recruitment, and four during spring recruitment.

Oregon State

Delta Upsilon is excited to be back at Oregon State University. Expansion recruitment efforts began in spring 2023, and this fall, the group held its first formal recruitment and stands at 11 members. Work continues on renovations and inspections for the chapter house, so while the members cannot live in the facility yet, they have been able to use the outdoor parts of the facility and regularly play basketball with one another and other fraternities. The new group is proud to boast a 3.56 GPA for spring 2023 and a 3.39 GPA for fall 2023.

Purdue

The Purdue Chapter participated in Health and Safety Week this fall, a week-long educational effort for Purdue fraternity/sorority life to learn more about keeping everyone’s mental and physical well-being in good shape. The chapter also hosted guest speakers from Purdue’s CARE and CAPS groups, as well as local law enforcement.

This fall, brothers completed a minimum of eight service hours each through projects like building homes with Habitat for Humanity, winterizing homes in the community and working with dogs at a local animal shelter.

Rutgers

This past fall semester, the Rutgers Chapter participated in Rutgers' annual Greek Service Week. More than 70 campus fraternities and sororities participate each year, and Delta Upsilon was proud to become the Greek Service Week champions. The chapter collectively earned over 300 points, more than any other fraternity or sorority on campus. Events included creating snack and hygiene packs for the local food pantry, participating in food and blood drives, and sending members to partnered restaurants on campus to raise money for the Embrace Kids Foundation. By the end of the week, DU brothers collectively attained over 100 service hours and claimed the title of Greek Service Week champions.

San Diego State

The San Diego State Chapter held a philanthropy concert benefitting the Global Service Initiative. The chapter hosted three separate bands, each of which had their own unique style. One of the bands, StillWall, includes DU brothers Connor O'Toole, San Diego State ’26, and Brendan Barry-Owen, San Diego State ’24. Each band performed for about half an hour, and between sets, the chapter had the opportunity to explain GSI and ask for donations toward the cause. Throughout the venue, the chapter had posters that further explained GSI, as well as highlighted the talented bands performing that night.

Another big event for the San Diego State Chapter is its annual Homecoming celebration. More than 150 undergraduates, alumni and friends were in attendance for the tailgate. This year was made more special with Homecoming falling on DU’s Founders Day.

South Carolina

The South Carolina Chapter continues to assist one of its Founding Fathers, Terry Schmoyer, South Carolina ’88, who regularly hosts charity events for the American Heart Association. This fall, all chapter brothers helped Terry hold his Luminary Event at Columbia High School, as well as a field day at Spring Valley Middle School.

The chapter also hosted a Building Better Men Retreat with the International Fraternity where brothers focused on the values of brotherhood, defining success and leadership, action planning, and more. This helped all brothers, including the 28 new members, commit to Delta Upsilon. The chapter also wants to congratulate Wilson Bumgarner, South Carolina ’24, on winning the intramural tennis singles championship.

South Carolina Chapter
Toronto

The Toronto Chapter continues to maintain its relationship with the community by partaking in philanthropy events with sororities, and it was proud to have finished second in Gamma Phi Beta's volleyball tournament philanthropy. In the winter semester, DU produced an astounding 6-0 Victory against Victoria College to open the UofT's intramural soccer tournament. The chapter also hosted its annual Christmas Formal on Dec. 7.

Western Illinois

The Western Illinois Chapter once again hosted its Haunted Trail philanthropy event to raise money for the Global Service Initiative. In addition to the haunted house and trail, the chapter sold more than 150 crewneck sweatshirts and T-shirts for the event. In total, the chapter raised more than $1,300. The event’s success was thanks in part to a newly created philanthropy committee. Instead of having just one person in charge of planning, the new committee has generated new ideas and shared the workload for all philanthropic efforts.

Brothers are proud of their successful Homecoming efforts. Paired with Sigma Sigma Sigma, the group placed second overall and first in the Boat Regatta and Yell Like Hell events.

Western Reserve

This fall, the Western Reserve Chapter hosted another successful Chocolate Chips for Change fundraiser where brothers make chocolate chip cookies to sell throughout campus to raise money for the Global Service Initiative. Brothers spent the week before the event advertising in many of the large classes, as well as by posting flyers. Over the weekend, the chapter then got together to make cookies from scratch and fill all of the orders received. The chapter ended up selling more than 1,000 handmade cookies.

Western Reserve Chapter
Wichita

This year, the Wichita Chapter hosted its 11th annual Teeter-a-Thon, a 24-hour teeter-tottering experience aimed at raising money for the Global Service Initiative. Participants were allowed to purchase water balloons to throw at the President during the last hour of the event. The chapter partnered with Alpha Phi Alpha, becoming the first IFC chapter at Wichita State to collaborate with an NPHC chapter.

The chapter took first place in the campus SongFest competition, a lip-sync and dance competition organized by the Student Engagement, Advocacy, and Leadership (SEAL) Office. The brothers took home the gold, showcasing their dancing and lip-syncing talents to popular country songs from the 1980s.
