Editor's Note: It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Brother Andrew Hayward, Western Ontario '12. Andrew and his journey with colon cancer were featured in our winter 2025 issue of the Delta Upsilon Quarterly in an article called "Brotherhood Lifeline."
We send our condolences to Andrews wife, daughters, other family members, and the brothers of the Western Ontario Chapter.
David Schumacher
Delta Upsilon mourns the loss of Past Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation Executive Director David Schumacher who passed away on March 4, 2025. He was 78 years old.
Dave graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. His extensive career included more than 30 years of executive leadership in nonprofit management, including 12 years with the DU Educational Foundation. He served the DUEF as Executive Director from 2000-2012, where he led and oversaw several successful campaigns and fundraising initiatives. Most recently, he served as Director of Development for Triangle Fraternity's Education Foundation.
"Dave was a very efficient administrator and an excellent manager of our Foundation staff," said former DUEF Chairman Steve Rowley, Ohio ’65. "During Dave’s tenure as DUEF Executive Director, he renewed DU’s contact with many brothers who had not been in touch with our Fraternity for many years, as well as staying in touch with those who remained actively involved."
Dave is survived by his wife, Susan; two children; and four grandsons.
